Japekrom, (B/A), Nov. 21, GNA – Mrs Sarah Ankamah, a-35-year-old widow who lost her husband in a bloody chieftaincy clash between the people of Japekrom and Drobo in the Brong-Ahafo Region, has appealed for support towards the catering of her five children.
Her husband, Atta Sina Yeboah, who is the Mmrantehene (youth leader) of Japekrom and two others, were shot to death when the protracted chieftaincy dispute between the two neighbouring towns in the Jaman South Municipality, turned bloody barely a month ago.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), the unemployed nursing mother expressed regret that the Police in the area had not made any arrest since the incident happened.
She appealed to the police and relevant institutions to speed up investigations, arrest, prosecute and bring perpetrators of the crime to book.
Mrs Ankamah said since her husband died, living had become extremely unbearable, as catering for the five children had brought serious economic burden on her.
“As we speak now, our eldest daughter (16 years) is at the Senior High School. Nobody is supporting me to cater for these children and it is very difficult for me now”, she stated flimsy in a voice.
Mr kwame Amoako Mensah, the Youth Chairman of Japekrom, noted that the police in the area were delaying in their investigations, and appealed to the Inspector General of Police to intervene to speed up investigations.
He alleged that suspects who fired the guns were roaming freely in the Drobo Township, saying, their presence in the area was infuriating relations which lost their dear ones and other victims who sustained gun shots wounds in the clash.
Mr Mensah said there was the possibility for some irate youth of Japekrom to plan reprisal if the suspects were not arrested and brought to book.
