Accra, Jan. 3, GNA — The Reverend Dr Stephen Yenusom Wengam, Lead Pastor of the Cedar Mountain Chapel of the Assemblies of God Ghana International Church had appealed to Ghanaians to desist from all forms of partisan politics, which does not promote unity.
He said Ghanaians should rather help to strengthen the bond of unity among the citizens, irrespective of colour, ethnicity or political affiliations.
He noted that Ghana cannot progress without peace, unity and stability and called on political party leaders to be agents of peace in all that they do.
Rev Dr Wengam made the call at the launch of the Church’s ‘Momentum 2019’ at East Legon in Accra.
The 40 days of Fasting and Prayer event, which ends on February 12, is aimed at building the capacity of participants, equip them both physically and spiritually and also to pray for peace and stability of the nation.
Rev. Dr Wengam urged Ghanaians to shun corrupt practices in the country, saying that, such negative acts ruins the country.
‘We still have this bane of corruption with us. This is at all levels, not only in government or with politicians but also ordinary citizens. It ruins the nation and society, and we pray that the government, which has all the corrective institutions under it, will lead in combating this menace’, he added.
Rev. Dr Wengam stressed the need, as a country, to thank God for the relative peace the country still enjoys and also Ghana’s religious freedom.
The Lead Pastor said the church’s mission was to equip individuals to have a fulfilling life on earth and become relevant in society.
