Accra, March 20, GNA - Mr. Dan Kwaku Yeboah, the Spokesperson of the Normalisation Committee of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), has denied media reports that, the proposed Black Stars international friendly match against Mauritania, has been cancelled.
He said, the Black Stars would play Mauritania in a preparation friendly ahead of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nation (AFCON), on Tuesday, March 26, at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Mr. Kweku Yeboah said this after the team’s first training session at the Accra Sports Stadium on Tuesday, as they prepare for the game against Kenya on March 23.
Mr. Yeboah also denied reports that, some players of the team were turned away at the team’s hotel for unpaid debts at the Tang Palace Hotel.
“The report was as a result of miscommunication. Nicholas Opoku was the first player to get to the hotel and the security man at check point told him that camping was supposed to be Tuesday not Monday but unfortunately he (Player) couldn’t call the protocol officer to clarify so he went home.
“Fortunately for us Lumor Agbenyenu got there and the same wrong information was channeled to him, but he called Alex Asante to verify and everything was sorted so they were never stranded”, he said.
The Black Stars would continue their training session today at Accra Sports Stadium at 18:00 GMT.
