Takoradi March 25, GNA - The Metropolitan Archbishop of Accra, Most Reverend John Bonaventure Kwofie, has entreated parents to be vigilant and security conscious to help curb child kidnapping currently prevailing in the country.
He said it was time for parents particularly mothers to be wary of personal security and in still same in their children especially the girls.
Most Rev Kwofie said this to climax the celebration of the first Diocesan, Catholic Women Council conference of the Sekondi/Takoradi Diocese, on the theme, "The role of women of Faith in a contemporary world, arise Catholic faithful, let us build together".
The conference which was attended by Catholic women from all the parishes and deaneries of the Sekondi/Takoradi diocese was organised by the Diocesan Council of Catholic women in collaboration with the 50th jubilee committee of the diocese and the National Council of Catholic women (NCCW) Ghana.
The event, also coincided with the celebration of the patron saint (St Joseph) of the Catholic Men's Association and the announcement of Monsignor Francis Abuah - Quansah as the Diocesan delegate of the Apostolate Administrator.
Monsignor Abuah-Quansah being selected as the Diocesan delegate of the Apostolate Administrator is to hold fort until a new bishop is appointed for the Sekondi/Takoradi diocese.
Archbishop Kwofie who is also the Apostolate Administrator of the Sekondi/Takoradi diocese underscored the important role women played in the development and growth of the Church, family and society and encouraged them to work harder to help address some of the issues that had bedevilled society.
He charged Catholic women to live worthy lives to serve as testimonies to others and also endeavour to show genuine love, integrity and discipline in all their activities.
Most Rev. Kwofie expressed concern about the carnage on the nation's roads in recent times and asked that all stakeholders particularly the police be up and doing to curb the menace.
He attributed the current road accidents to human errors rather than the work of God and asked that people to change their attitude to ensure peace in the country.
Touching on the Lenten season, the Metropolitan Archbishop asked Catholics to use the season to return to God and get closer to him through the observance of fasting, prayers and works of charity.
"If you sincerely pray, fast and do the works of charity, it will draw you closer to God as well as reconcile you with God, your family and the society at large".
He thanked the parishioners for their support both kind and cash during his installation as the Metropolitan Archbishop of Accra and asked for their continuous prayers since he was now married to" two wives Accra and Sekondi-Takoradi Dioceses":and the work load was huge.
