Accra, Mar.25 GNA - Kwadwo Asamoah, Black Stars and Inter Milan left back, will miss the team’s international friendly against Mauritania on Tuesday, March 26, at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The versatile player according to our sources has flown back to Spain to continue with his recuperation of a nagging knee injury, which kept him out of the senior national team’s final African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against the Harambee stars of Kenya over the weekend.
The 30-year-old, who was absent from Sunday's recovery training session following a 1-0 home win over Kenyan back to Barcelona, Spain for a routine medical check on his problematic knee, which kept him out of action for a couple of years, and out of the Black Stars from 2014 to 2018.
Asamoah, who is expected to play a major part in Ghana’s campaign to win the continental showpiece, which has eluded Ghana over the last two decades, has come under heavy criticisms from a section of the public for his commitment to the national course.
The 32nd edition of the biennial competition, which was initially a 16 nation tournament has been expanded to 24 nations with West Africa leading the number of nations qualified with nine countries for the Egypt tournament that would start from June 21-July 19, 2019.
