Effiduase (Ash), Mar 25, GNA - Dr. Nana Ayew Afriye, Member of Parliament (MP) for the Effiduase/Asokore Constituency has provided a number of items to supports educational delivery in the constituency.
The items included four brand new motorbikes to the district directorate of education to aid supervision and the repair and refurbishment of a broken down pick-up vehicle of the directorate.
Others included 3-unit pavilion classroom block for the T.I Ahmadiyya JHS at Asokore and donation of 160 dual desk to the Effiduase Demonstration JHS.
Addressing a durbar at Effiduase to hand over the items, Dr Afriye said his focus was to help improve educational infrastructure in order to improve performance of pupils in the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), which had been fallen in the last three years.
He said he had made available GH¢20,000 to the district education directorate to conduct free vacation classes for all students across the district during the next vacation.
Additionally, the educational endowment fund dedicated to support needy but brilliant pupils in the constituency had been increased from GH¢5,000 to GH¢10,000, beginning next academic year.
Dr Afriye said all of these supports were coming from his share of the MP’s Common Fund and MP’s Education Fund.
He called on all stakeholders in education to support initiatives that would help address challenges and improve educational delivery in the area.
Mr. David Oppong, District Director of Education commended the MP for the support and reiterated the directorate’s commitment to help uplift the image of the district in the BECE performance.
He urged teachers to strengthen efforts in teaching and learning in their various schools to improve performance.
Nana Ntiamoah Amankuo II, Banmuhene of the Effiduase Traditional Area praised the MP for the support and urged the directorate to implement necessary measures to help improve the academic performance in the district.
Nana Sefa Boakye, Nifahene of the Asokore Traditional Area also commended the MP for the support and called on the school children to make good use of their time in school and learn hard in order to be successful in future.
