Agona Swedru, April 24, GNA - Apostle David Kwesi Kankam, Swedru Area Head of Church of Pentecost has asked the youth to refrain from joining vigilante groups to help sustain the peace and stability of the country.
According to Apostle Kankam, who is also a Council Member of the Church, it was prudent that Christians prayed against the practice, which could plunge the nation into chaos.
Speaking to the Media at the end of a five-day Easter Convention organised by the Swedru Area of the Church at Agona Swedru, Apostle Kankam described vigilantism as ‘ungodly' and appealed to Parliament to speed up the passage of the Vigilantism and Landguardism draft bill before it.
He called on all Christians, especially the clergy to use the pulpits and other evangelism platforms to discourage the youth and political parties to disband the groups.
Apostle Kankam also expressed concern about the recent spate of kidnappings, which bedevilled the country and urged the public to be vigilant while Christians prayed to stop the practice.
He warned kidnapers who were creating fear and panic among Ghanaians to stop the malicious acts because God would soon expose them.
The government, he indicated, needed peace and stability to work to improve the economic growth of the country and that nobody should do anything that could reverse its economic gains and peaceful environment.
Reverend Nelson Agbove, Swedru Central District Pastor of the Church of Pentecost asked Christians to desist from corrupt practices at the work place to promote development of the country and urged them to live beyond reproach.
He asked the public not use the Easter period as an occasion to drink alcohol and abuse drugs to ruin their lives as the death of Christ had already freed mankind from sin and untimely deaths and those who believed in the power of the blood and the resurrection of Jesus were saved.
Pastor Agbove advised the youth to take education seriously because education was key in knowledge acquisition and wisdom.
