Assin-Fosu (C/R),June 17, GNA - The Assin-Fosu Area Head of the Church of Pentecost, Apostle Sylvester Arhin has launched an Environmental Care Campaign to ensure environmental cleanliness.
The campaign on the theme, "My environment, my responsibility", is akin to the National Sanitation Day, and forms part of the Church's contribution to save lives and accelerate national development.
In an address, Apostle Arhin reminded the gathering of how the Church of Pentecost since its inception in 1937, had contributed positively through various generations in all facets of the nation's development.
According to him, the current trend of environmental-related disasters like floods must be a cause of worry and concern to all well-meaning Christians and citizens of Ghana and therefore, as part of the church's vision 2023 agenda, it has set itself up to lead the onslaught in consonance with the government state agencies, Zoomlion Ghana Limited and all well-meaning citizens to embark on clean up exercise from the National level to every cottage in the country where the church has a presence.
He therefore appealed to the conscience of all present to have an attitudinal change to make environmental cleanliness not just a one-day act but also a habit for life.
Present at the launch were representatives from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Community Development, Zoomlion Ghana Limited, Information Services Department and a representative of the District Chief Executive, Mr. Emmanuel Forson, the District Environmental Officer.
The launching was followed by a massive clean-up exercise through the principal streets of Twifo Praso and tree planting along the major roads of the town.
