Adiembra Number Two (E/R), June 19, GNA - The Odikro of Adiembra Number Two, Baffour Yentumi Ampofo II, has called for a ban on gaming and video centres in her jurisdiction.
She explained that such measures would help reduce absenteesm from school, promote effective teaching and learning and help raise the standard of education in the area.
Baffour Ampofo called on Assemblies and the Ghana Education Service (GES) to institute cash awards to students who obtained aggregate 06 to 09 at the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in their areas and award certificates to best performing schools boost the morale of teachers in those schools.
She was speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview at her palace at Adiembra Number Two, near Asamankese in the Eastern Region.
Baafour Ampofo called on on stakeholders in education to be committed to turning around the current poor academic performance in the Adeambra area. .
The Odikro called on the government to provide the police with vehicles to assist neighbourhood watch committees in all the electoral areas, to combat criminal activities and assure the citizens of their safety and security.
She urged the West Akim Municipal Asssembly and the Upper West Akim District Assembly to repair all faulty streetlights and extend street lights to new areas in the two districts as efforts to protect security at night.
She commended the West Akim Municipal Assembly for the rehabilitation of the deplorable West African Examination Council (WAEC) centres at Osenase and Brekumanso and furnishing them with standard mono desks.
