Accra, July 3, GNA - Mr. Kwesi Owusu, former captain of the Black Stars, has said the team’s performance against Guinea-Bissau is an indication that, they have peaked at the right time in the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), in Egypt.
He said the players were worried about their performance in the first two games, hence the high level of aggression displayed in the last game.
“I think they have peaked at the right time and capable of improving upon their performance in the next game.
The Black Stars defeated Guinea-Bissau to top Group F with five points ahead of Cameroon who were the defending champions of the AFCON.
Speaking in an interview with GNA Sports, the former goal poacher said, “now the team would be scoring goals but the most important thing is that, most of the top countries are dipping in form especially our next opponent, Tunisian.
“The Tunisians would come into the game to frustrate us by playing more of delaying tactics as the north Africans always do, so the coach should map a strategy to get early goals to unsettle them,” he added.
The former striker noted that, every country qualified to the Round 16 was favorite to win the tournament based on the standard of play he has witnessed in the group matches.
Ghana would be playing Tunisia in the Round of 16 of the AFCON on July 8, at the Ismailia Stadium in Egypt.
