Akim Oda (E/R), July 4, GNA – Mr Nelson Ntiamoah, the Deputy Director of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) Unit in the Birim Central Municipality, has called on the public to avoid attitudes that could cause disasters.
He said people must eschew the habit of littering around, building in water ways or water logged areas; and help prevent flooding and outbreak of diseases.
Speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency at Akim Oda in the Eastern, Mr Ntiamoah said by so doing the citizenry would be helping the government to save resources to improve their living conditions.
He said NADMO in collaboration with the Forestry Commission would provide tree seedlings to basic schools in the Birim Central Municipality for planting to serve as windbreaks in the society.
The Deputy Director called on institutions and corporate bodies to supply NADMO with relief items to assist disaster victims.
Mr Ntiamoah cautioned drivers to be careful on the road to avoid accidents, saying “drivers must park their cars for a while when they see the roads are flooded.”
