Hohoe (V/R), July 04, GNA - The Hohoe Magistrate Court has ordered Mr. Gbor Daniel, Director of Hosanna/Apostolic Ventures in Hohoe to register his company and workers under the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT).
Mr. Gbor was put before the court presided over by Mr. Peter Anongdare for failing to register his company, workers and failure to pay SSNIT contributions for the workers.
He pleaded guilty and was convicted on his own plea and will reappear in court on July 11.
Gbor was granted a GH?5,000 bail and must carry out the order before the next adjourned date.
Prosecuting, Mr. George Akuaku, the Hohoe SSNIT Compliance Supervisor told the court that Gbor is the Director of Hosanna/Apostolic Ventures and that the said establishment was not covered by the Basic National Social Security Scheme under the National Pensions Act 2008 (Act 766).
He said the establishment’s economic activity was trading, and that though it had been in operation for over three years, the accused had made no effort to fulfil the statutory obligation by registering his establishment and workers as demand by law.
Mr. Akuaku said the result of Gbor’s actions the staff have been denied the opportunity to contribute to the Social Security Scheme to enjoy pension after retirement.
He said countless attempts by SSNIT officers to get the accused person to comply with the law by registering his workers proved futile as the accused failed to cooperate with SSNIT officers.
