Sogakope (VR), Nov. 18, GNA - The chiefs and people of Agave Avegorme in the South Tongu District of the Volta Region have enstooled two chiefs for the Agave traditional area.
Police Inspector Joseph Amedoko of the Ghana Police Service was enstooled under the stool name Torgbe Kavi VI with Mr. Emmanuel Kwesi Kubi, a businessman, also enstooled Awafia Ahadzie IV.
The two chiefs were outdoored and introduced to the chiefs, queenmothers and elders of the area at a colourful ceremony held at Agave Avegorme amidst libation, singing and dancing and slaughtering of sheep as part of rituals to cement the enstoolment.
Mr. Francis Kavi, Secretary to the Stool, told Ghana News Agency (GNA) that the kingmakers were happy that the vacancies had been filled after 17years.
The chiefs in a statement thanked the elders, the leaders of the Agave Traditional area and the Avegorme community for the confidence reposed in them and asked for unity and support for the development of the Agave Avegorme community.
They swore an oath of allegiance to the chiefs and elders of Agave Traditional area.
An opinion leader said, “We were just living like a river without fish after the death of our Chief, no leader, nobody to report our grievances to, so we are happy those days are now over.”
