Bia East (WN/R), Nov. 27, GNA - The Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communication (GIFEC) has donated 16 computers and accessories to the Bia East District Health Directorate.
The donation was part of its effort to promote the teaching and learning of Information Communication and Technology (ICT) in the country.
Mr Abraham Kofi Asante, the Administrator of GIFEC, presenting the computers, said GIFEC seeks to help close the ICT gap between rural communities and the cities and also to help facilitate practical lessons in ICT in schools.
He said the attention of GIFEC was not only on the study of ICT in schools but also at health centres adding “it is government's agenda to digitalize every community and institution in the country, hence the Digitized Ghana Agenda Project”.
Mr Asante said the computers would assist the health directorate to become more efficient and productive as well as support the drive towards digitalizing its processes.
He commended the DCE for his efforts adding that it was through the DCE's efficient lobbying skills that the computers were donated to the District.
Mr Richard Chebure, the District Chief Executive (DCE), said it is the core objective of government for every Ghanaian to have access to quality health care.
“This government is ready to serve every Ghanaian as promised in 2016 campaign’’, he said.
Mr Chebure said the computers would be distributed to the newly built Community- Based Health Planning and Service (CHP) Compound in the district.
