Accra, Nov. 29, GNA - The opening night of the Music In Africa Conference for Collaborations, Exchange and Showcases (ACCES) saw two Ghanaian music greats, Ebo Taylor and Bibie Brew receive the Music In Africa Honorary Award.
The duo, were recognized by the Music In Africa Foundation (MIAF) for their outstanding contribution to their home country's music industry and that of Africa.
Bibie Brew, in her remarks after receiving the awards said, ''When we receive an award like this, it just takes us back to where we began this journey, the beautiful chapters in our lives.
"We never knew where music was going to take us to but held this desire to speak to people through our music. So this award goes to people who I started this journey and have been there for me,'' She said.
The 83-year-old Guitarist and Composer Ebo Taylor was grateful for being recognised as a music stalwart across the World and also thrilled fans with a dazzling performance at the Alliance Francaise on Thursday evening.
Madam Maimouna Dembélé, Chairperson of MIAF, emphasized the need for Africans to honour our living legends the main reason for initiating the Africa Honorary Award in order to recognize outstanding musicians.
The night also witnesses some memorable performances by Yaa Yaa, Kyekyeku and and Ghanalogue Highife Band, Songhoy Blues, among others.
The duo, join previous award recipients were Baaba Maal (2017) in and Eric Wainaina (2018).
