Accra, Dec 09, GNA - Integrity Magazine, a subsidiary of KRIF Media, has embarked on a health walk and aerobics on the occasion of the Farmers’ Day Public Holiday.
The walk brought together participants from corporate organisations in the Airport enclave in Accra.
The participants, numbering 40 were from organisations such as; HealthNet, Holiday Inn, Fitness One, Exotic Ventures, among others, all in the Airport enclave.
It started from the Holiday Inn Hotel, through the Kawukudi road to Airport View Hotel, then back to Holiday Inn, where the aerobics took place.
Ms Miranda Boadi Debrah, the Sales and Marketing Manager of KRIF Media, said KRIF Media, producers of Integrity Magazine, has been organising health walks every month in different catchment zones to create the awareness of the importance of staying healthy and observing good health practices.
“Integrity Magazine has been organizing health walks every month, so this is not the first time, we are organising such an exercise. However, this is the first time we are organising it on a public holiday, mostly we organise it on Saturdays,” she said.
She said they organised the health walk for participants to exercise in order to release stress and keep fit, adding that, it was an important platform for the participants to network and meet new corporate friends.
Dr Osmond Boakye, a Medical Doctor at HealthNet, who took participants through a health talk on the kidney, advised participants to eschew habits that damaged the kidney.
He said kidney problems were on the rise and cautioned participants to live healthy lifestyles.
“In preventing kidney problems, you need to drink more water, have enough rest, stop eating late, and walk regularly. You also need to stay away from excessive alcohol intake, smoking and urine retention.”
He said 10 per cent of the world’s population had kidney disease, adding that the disease was increasing at a fast rate due to the unhealthy lifestyles.
