Aboso (W/R), Dec 11, GNA - A thirty-five-year-old woman died in a horrific motor accident on the Tarkwa-Damang road leaving another person in a critical condition.
The deceased has been identified as Hellen Yakubu and the body has since been deposited at the Apinto government hospital morgue for preservation and postmortem.
An investigator at the Motor Transport and Traffic Department (MTTD) in Tarkwa, Chief Inspector Goerge Kwabena Osei who revealed this in an interview with the Ghana News Agency, said on Tuesday at about 1739 hours, the suspect rider Job Akufago was riding an unregistered Haojin motorbike with a pillion rider Hellen Yakubu from Tarkwa towards Aboso in the Prestea Huni-Valley Municipality.
He said on reaching a section of the road near the Aboso Methodist School, suspect driver John Asaah who was driving a Hyundai Santafe with DV plate number 1643 A-2019 from the opposite direction suddenly negotiated a curve into an automobile engineering centre and crashed into Akufugo's motorbike, smashing it in the process.
The two on the motorbike sustained various injuries and were ferried to the Apinto government hospital emergency unit but Hellen died while on admission.
Inspector Osei said Asaah who is in police custody would be charged for careless and inconsiderate driving and negligently causing harm.
He said the vehicle and motorbike involved in the accident were impounded at the Aboso police station for technical examination.
