Accra, Dec. 16, GNA - Mrs Jean Mensa, Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, has expressed the need for women to put to use their entrepreneurial skills to benefit society.
She said women were endowed with gifts such as cooking and craftsmanship and could make a difference in society when they start doing business with it.
Mrs Mensa was speaking at the Annual Prayer and Fasting Retreat of the Living Streams International in Accra.
The Retreat dubbed ‘Flourish 2019’ was on the theme’ Becoming Women of Influence’.
It was aimed at providing women the opportunity to ask questions about their wellbeing, and also encourage them to be committed to God and pray for the socio-economic development of the nation.
Mrs Mensa said although prayer was a necessity for survival as a Christian, it was also necessary to skillfully equip ‘yourself as a woman to become an asset to your family and generation in this World where women play vital roles in the upkeep of the family’.
The EC Chairperson described an influential woman as a hard working woman who supports the family, and contributes to the upkeep of the home.
She said an influential woman was a woman of prayer, a woman who bears the can do spirit, who gives her time and treasure without counting the cost.
Mrs Mensa said an influential woman was also a woman who loves the Lord with all her heart, her time, treasure and talents.
‘Let us use all the gifts God has given us to influence the society in which we live’, she added.
Reverend (Mrs) Davina Markwei, First Lady of the Complete, Renewed, Equipped, Women (CREW) the Women’s Wing of the church, urged women to aspire to take leadership positions.
