Accra, Dec. 17, GNA - Some electorates in the Nii Boiman Electoral Area, in the Okaikwei North District have chosen to vote for candidates contesting the Assembly Member position and ignored Unit Committee members claiming candidates were not familiar.
Some of the candidates also refused to pick up ballot papers for unit committee members because they didn’t know them.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency, one of the electorates said: “I don’t know any of them so how do I vote for someone I don’t know”?
The Ghana News Agency also observed calm and less busy polling stations, which as a result made some of the electoral and security officers relaxed and idle.
As at the 1030 hours, only 47 electorates had cast their ballots out of the expected ballots of 729 at the Alhaji Abbass polling station.
At the Methodist Church polling station, 42 had voted out of the expected number of 779 voters, a situation the Presiding Officer, Mr Ernest Adjanor, described as ‘not encouraging.’
