Tarkwa (W/R), December 18, GNA - Hundreds of aggrieved customers of "El Real Estate and Tikowre Capital" earlier this week held the company’s founder who is also the overseer (pastor) of Zoe Outreach Embassy hostage at the premises of the Tarkwa High court to demand for their locked-up funds.
The irate customers deflated the tyres of Pastor Kelvin Kobiri’s Range Rover with registration number GN 1591-18 to prevent him from escaping.
Mr Kobiri was apparently invited by the Police in Tarkwa to respond to a suit against him for issuing dud cheque to one of his clients.
The Tarkwa Police Commander later led a team of security personnel to escort Mr Kobiri from the courtyard to the Police station.
The complainant in the case, Mr George Ofori, a businessman in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), said he did an investment with El Real Estate.
According to him, the overseer personally gave him a cheque to the tune of 1.7 million Ghana cedis to cover his investment and interest but it was dishonored.
“So l made a criminal case against him at the Police station where he was summoned to the Tarkwa circuit court for hearing on Monday but unfortunately the presiding judge is on vacation so the case could not be heard”.
He said “When l got here a lot of people who claimed Mr Kobire was owing them have besieged the Tarkwa High court car park for their funds”.
Mr Richard Alinka, organizer of the aggrieved clients said in 2018 over 7,000 people across the country invested in the two entities of Mr Kobiri but none of them have received their principal or interest.
He said Mr Kobire failed to pay them after several promises, adding that, the group has also petitioned the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Police Service and other agencies but nothing positive has come out.
Mr Alinka said all attempts made by the upset investors to withdraw their dividends and principal from El Real Estate and Tikowre capital have proved futile.
“A lot of people are passing away, losing their marriages, buildings and properties because over 25 million dollars that they invested has been locked up” he said.
