Accra, Dec. 20, GNA - Dr Richard Banful, the Chief Executive Officer of the Medifem Multi-Specialist Hospital and Fertility Centre, has said the facility its annually success rate of enabling patients with fertility issues to conceive stands between 50 per cent and 54 per cent.
Though conception depended on other factors other than medical, he said, the Hospital, was working towards improving its success rate, which is also already above the international standard of 38 per cent.
Dr Banful, who is also the Medical Director of the Hospital, said this at the Company’s End of Year Media Soiree, where journalists were briefed on its achievement for the year, its plans and prospects for the future.
They were also given a tour of the facilities, including its 50 in-patient bed and 11 single bed private wards.
The Hospital annually delivers more than 500 babies and has three fully equipped theatres for surgical, obstetrical and gynaecological operations.
Emphasising the importance of providing specialised services as part of a comprehensive national healthcare delivery, Dr Banful said: “The Hospital will continuously deliver on its mandate and work to introduce more services that will make it a one-stop healthcare service provider for its patrons”.
Its three leading consultants have an average of more than 45 years of medical practice acquired both locally and internationally, between them.
At present, the Hospital offers services in Feto-Maternal Medicine and Infertility Management, Paediatrics, Urology, General Medicine, General Surgery, Dentistry, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Ear Nose and Throat, Orthopaedic, among others.
Dr Banful said they were committed to complying with all the relevant laws, including those of the National Health Insurance Authority and the Health Facilities Regulatory Agency.
“The Medifem Hospital has chosen a niche in the population to serve patients, including the middle and upper income brackets of the population, with excellence.”
The expert in Obstetrics and Gynaecology said in putting the patient at the centre of their operations, they continually pursued patient safety, innovation in medical practice and tailored specialist care, as part of their strategic objectives.
“Our clinical data are all pointing in the positive direction as we strive to provide the best healthcare services to our clients”.
On health care delivery on the national front, Dr Banful said more investments must be made to help the country to deal with primary illnesses, such as diarrhoea, malaria, and cholera.
Malaria, he said, also topped the list of diseases diagnosed at the Medifem Hospital, adding that,
continuous stronger and integrated national efforts were needed to effectively minimise the incidence of the disease.
From its first centre at Dzorwulu in 2004, Medifem has steadily grown to open an ultra-modern health centre, along the Margaret Anderson Avenue in Westlands, Accra, in addition to its Dzorwulu facility.
