Yendi(NR) Dec 20, GNA - The VIP Jeoun Transport has donated items worth thousands of Cedis to 1,234 widows and Persons With Disability (PWD) from Yendi and its environs.
The items include; large quantity of rice; GTP Wax prints (Fabrics) and undisclosed amount in envelopes.
In his welcome address, the Over Lord of Dagbon Ya-Na Mahama Abukari II expressed gratitude to the VIP Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mr Yaw Amponsah Marfo for their support to the Widows.
He said VIP Jeoun Transport made similar donations in Wa in the Upper West Region, Accra, Ashanti Region, Eastern Region, Brong Ahafo Region and now in Yendi in Northern Region because there was peace in the area and urged his people to maintain the peace they were enjoying.
In an address Mr Yaw Amponsah Marfo, the Chief Executive officer of VIP Jeoun Transport said it was part of their Corporate Social Responsibility.
He said the donation was done annually having served the people of Wa in the Upper West Region last year.
Mr Marfo hoped that other Non-Governmental Organisations, Civil Society Organisations among others would do such similar donations.
Mr Marfo who retired from the Ghana Police Service in 1979 as a Sargent said he was in Yendi because there was peace and Dagbon had Ya-Na Mahama Abukari II.
Alhaji Hammed Abubakari Yussuf, the Yendi Municipal Chief Executive said when he was informed about the donation to the Widows in his Municipality he became excited and was surprised to see some Widows, he had seen for so many years.
He prayed to God to bless their business to flourish and appealed to the beneficiaries to also show appreciation to God and the donors.
Ya-Na presented a quantity of yams, a ram, smock to the CEO and Traditional clothes to Mrs. Amponsah (his wife)
