Busunu (S/R), Dec. 20, GNA – Health Aid Africa (HHA) a non-governmental organisation, in partnership with the Busunu District Church of Pentecost (CoP) has organised a two-day medical screening for residents of Busunu and its surrounding villages in the West Gonja District of the Savannah Region.
A total of 411 residents comprising 88 males, 178 females and 145 children were screened for blood pressure, malaria and HIV among others.
The two-day exercise was in line with the HAA’s mission to inform, educate and promote healthy lifestyles as well as serve vulnerable groups in society.
Mrs Georgina Akua Padi, Executive Director of HAA, said “It is time Christians take a critical look at the lifestyles of members including people in deprived communities to help ensure disease-free society”.
She commended the CoP for the partnership and pledged her organisation’s commitment to improve on the health status.
Pastor Solomon Anderson, the District Pastor and Overseer of the Church at Busunu, said the exercise was the first of its kind in the district and expressed the hope that it would be sustained to help build healthy and stronger membership.
He said apart from the spiritual needs of members, the physical aspect was equally important and expressed gratitude to the HAA team for the initiative.
