Accra, Dec. 20, GNA – The Ghana Cultural Forum (GCF) is to build the capacity of journalists in reporting cultural issues towards.
This would deepen their understanding of the Ghanaian culture, on how to solicit ideas to enrich it, its importance to socio-economic development; and how to project it abroad to enhance the national image.
The GCF, the organisers of the training, has, therefore, scheduled its next training for January 2020, to be held in Kumasi.
Mr Asare Konadu Yamoah, Chairperson of the Forum, said it was the vision of the GCF to have branches in all the regions across the country, and the media was a key player to help achieve that goal.
Consequently, it would work with the Ghana Journalists Association to institute a Cultural Reporting Award as part of the GJA’s 2020 Awards ceremony.
This, he said, would serve as an incentive for journalists to turn towards Cultural Journalism.
He said they also had plans to host news editors at similar sensitisation workshops.
