Gbingbaliga (NR) Dec. 20, GNA - Assemblies of God (AG) Care Ghana, has feted 700 of its sponsored school Children at Gbingbaliga in the Yendi Municipality.
The children were drawn from Gbingbaliga, Adibo Zugu, KPchiyili, Zang and Zangbang of its Programme Primary and Junior High Schools.
The children had refreshment with cooked rice and Biscuits, Tamarinda Soft drinks among others at the party.
There were also singing, games and dancing competitions.
Mr Joseph Napari Mutawakilu, Acting Programme Officer of AG. Care Ghana said the party was to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ ahead of 25th December 2019, on Christmas day, and the New Year in January 2020.
Mr Napari said AG. Care Ghana in partnership with Christian Children’s Fund of Canada (CCFC) sponsored the children in its six programme areas.
He announced that some of the children from their programme schools qualified to Universities, Health and Technical Institutions.
Mr. Napari urged the school children to learn hard get to where their colleagues were and urged them to respect their parents and teachers.
He also advised the girls not to allow the boys to impregnate them to destroy their future.
In a sermon, Pastor Fred Bobson of Deeper Life Church indicated that Christmas was important in the Christian Calendar and was not for drinking and dancing, but telling the whole world that Jesus came and died for their sins.
Mr. Jefferson James Abdulai AG. Care Partner Programme Manager advised the children to be serious about their education by avoiding anti-social activities.
Mr Jefferson Abdulai said the day was for them to eat, drink and dance in the birth of their Lord Jesus Christ and stressed on the need for serious teaching and learning in all their programme schools as a lot of resources were used to support them in education and health sectors.
Mr Sammy Suuk, Assistant Director of Yendi Municipal Ghana Education Service said the contribution of AG. Care Ghana, and CCFC was crucial, especially in the supply of furniture, classroom blocks, training of teachers in new methodologies.
Mr Suuk said the theme: for the party “Celebrating the Birth of Christ by sharing with sponsored children as examples of Master Himself” called for improving relations between school and community through the support of Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs), Parent Teacher Associations (PTA), Chiefs, elders in the community and Town Development Committees.
He said when the schools re-open on 8th of January, 2020 and on 20th February 2020, there would be continued Professional Development Day (CPD)for teachers nationwide to meet and discuss their professional issues on values like knowledge, practice and problems facing the schools as teaching and learning was concern.
Master Blessing Mangba Aziz, on behalf of the sponsored children thanked AG. Care and CCFC for being concerned about the wellbeing of the sponsored children.
