Adaklu Kodzobi (VR), Dec. 23, GNA - Mr Phanuel Kadey Donkor, Adaklu District Chief Executive (DCE), has lamented the absence of household toilets in communities in the District.
He said over 60 per cent of households in the 91 communities in the District were without toilets.
Mr. Donkor expressed his unhappiness over the situation at a durbar on the theme, "Enhancing small scale agriculture towards agribusiness development".
He said the lack of toilet situation was worrying as it could pose a major health hazard in the District.
The DCE reminded the people that "sanitation is a collective responsibility that we must all strive to do the little we can do to keep the environment clean and safe".
Mr Kadey asked all households, especially those in communities selected under the UNICEF Programme to construct toilets using local materials.
"By so doing, we will protect our communities from open defecation and live in clean and healthy environment," he said.
Mr. Donkor said the Assembly will from next year enforce its bylaw on household toilet and sanitation.
Mr Kennedy Badagbor, a 37- year old teacher from Aziedukope was adjudged the Best District Farmer.
