Mampong (Ash), Dec. 23, GNA – Mr. Kwaku Ampratwum Sarpong, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Asante-Mampong, has donated 20 wheelchairs to be shared among the Municipality’s hospital and the Ghana Society of the Physically-Disabled.
The gift would aid the mobility of patients suffering from debilitating health conditions that made their ambulation difficult, as well as persons with such challenges in that Society in the Municipality.
Presenting the wheelchairs at a brief ceremony at Asante-Mampong, the MP said that the gesture was in response to appeals from the Hospital and members of the Society.
Mr Sarpong said the items valued at GH¢11,500.00, were procured through his share of the Common Fund.
He, in addition, promised to complete a stalled Children's Ward project at the Hospital, which was started about 20 years ago by Mampong natives domiciled in the United Kingdom (UK).
Receiving the gifts, Mr. Jacob Amoah, the Mampong Municipal Director of Health Services, thanked the MP for the donation, which, he said, was timely to facilitate the Hospital’s treatment of such patients.
