Takoradi, Dec. 23, GNA - The South West Ghana conference (SWGC) of the Seventh Day Adventist Church has celebrated its centenary anniversary of the Adventist Family Ministries in Takoradi with a call on members to pray to ensure lasting marriages.
It was on the theme: "Reaching Families for Jesus, the Role of Church Members".
Pastor Richmond Afonaa-Mensah, former President of the SWGC, in a sermon, called on the members to seek God before and during their marriages to curb marital challenges, which could result in broken homes.
"As families, couples and church we need to seek God diligently with fasting and prayers in order to build a strong marital home" he said.
"To have a healthy and strong marriages, we as individuals and church, have a crucial role to play …. and we should endeavour to do this wholeheartedly".
"No matter how your marriage is, God will heal and save it when you go to him with prayers and fasting".
Pastor Afonaa-Mensah, therefore, urged husbands to endeavour to love their wives and wives should do same to their husbands for the fulfilment of God's will.
Pastor Yaw Kwakye Adeefe, the President of the SWGC, charged the church members to put in place measures that would help solve their marital problems if the need be.
Members were treated to melodious hymns provided by the various choirs of the church.
Ten couples who had been married for 40 to 50 years were awarded with certificate.
Prayers were said for the country, political leaders and Ghanaians for peaceful elections in 2020.
