Sunyani, Dec. 26, GNA - The Sunyani Regional Hospital (SRH) and the Sunyani Municipal Hospital (SMH) recorded 34 births- 21 females and 13 males from the midnight of Tuesday, December 24 to the midnight of Christmas Day.
The SRH had 20 births, comprising 13 females and 7 males; whilst the SMH delivered 14 babies, eight females and six males.
The ages of the mothers ranged between 16, the youngest and 40 years, Mrs Amo Portia Effah and Mrs Charlotte Arhin, midwives on duty at the SRH and SMH respectively told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in separate interviews.
They said all the mothers and their babies are in good conditions.
Mrs Effah said the deliveries at the SRH included a female twin, but while 12 of them (deliveries) were normal, eight were by Caesarean Section (CS), she said.
She advised pregnant women to go to the hospital regularly for the needed advice on matters relating to their health and that of their unborn babies, because "we are there for you and the foetus, we want every child to be born healthy and live", she said.
Mrs Arhin urged pregnant women to eat balanced diet, including a lot of vegetables to give them enough blood and avoid low levels of red blood cells that might lead to blood transfusions.
