Koforidua, Dec 26, GNA - The Matthew 25 House in Koforidua, Christian Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) focused on the care of HIV and AIDS patients has fed over 1,000 vulnerable in the Eastern Region on Christmas Day during its annual Xmas soup kitchen programme.
Together with Ms Comfort Asante, New Juaben North Municipal Chief Executive and a youth group Youth Alive, distributed packed food, drinks, water, biscuits and sweets to patients at the Regional Hospital and the St Joseph Hospital.
They also presented the same items to the inmates of the Koforidua Prisons and those in cells at the Koforidua Central Police Station to show love to the vulnerable, as well as staff on duty at the various institutions for attending to the people on Christmas day.
Youth Alive, a group of students from Catholic senior high schools treated patients and staff at the hospitals with Christmas carols amidst drumming and dancing whiles distributing the foods to the admiration of all
Monsignor Alex Bobby Benson, Director Matthew 25 House, said the programme dubbed Xmas soup kitchen was instituted 10 years ago to bring joy to vulnerable people such as the sick, aged, street children and others in distressed conditions.
Ms Comfort Asante said she was happy to be part of the occasion as showing love to the vulnerable was important as it helped the patients and inmates feel they were also loved.
She urged all to take advantage of the festive season and show love to all who needed it in one way or the other so that love would be spread in the country.
