Gyamfikrom (E/R), Dec. 30, GNA - Ms Comfort Asante, the Municipal Chief Executive Officer (MCE) of New Juaben North Municipality, has commissioned a GH¢220,000.00 community health facility for Gyamfikrom-Dabiasem.
Prior to the establishment of the facility, access to healthcare has been a major challenge for the people in the area as they had to travel to Effiduase and Koforidua to have access to healthcare.
Ms Asante said the wellbeing of each individual is vital and critical attention is needed at all times to sustain one’s health.
She said the idea of CHPS compound was borne out of the need to bring quality healthcare to the doorsteps of deprived communities.
She said the facility was built with funds from the District Accelerated Common Fund (DACF) adding that government is working to improve the health status of all Ghanaians.
The MCE urged the community health nurse and midwives within the zone to continue with their routine home visits and outreach efforts to improve the health needs of the area.
On behalf of the Municipal Assembly, she presented a digital thermometer, chairs, refrigerator, a television set and other items to support work at the facility.
Dr Ekow Kaito, the New Juaben Municipal Health Director (MHD), said the facility, which is estimated to serve over 1,732 people in the area, has a labour ward, family planning room, consulting room, dispensary and a wash room amongst others.
He said maintenance of the facility is a collective responsibility of all the people in the community.
Dr Kaito advised the community to stay at peace with nurses and other health workers who would be posted to the facility and advised them to report any challenge they encounter with any of the workers to his office.
A nine member community health management committee was also inaugurated to superintend the affairs of the facility.
