Accra, Dec 30, GNA — Bishop Dr Yaw Owusu Ansah, the Regional Overseer of Resurrection Power and Living Bread Ministries International, Accra West, has called on parents and guardians to raise children in a responsible manner to contribute towards nation-building.
He urged parents to nurture talents of youngsters and that the best way to do that was to encourage their children to participate in church activities.
They should also live according to the standard of biblical teachings which stress discipline, hard work, peace, love and unity.
“If we do not encourage children to delight themselves in God’s house, they would go wayward,” he said during a Children’s Day Celebration held over the weekend in Accra.
Bishop Ansah quoted copiously from the scriptures saying: “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”
Every child is born with unique talents, which the Rev said parents should be able to notice early in the child’s life and help them grow to exploit it.
He cautioned parents against high-handedness shown to children since being harsh was not the proper way of training children to have the real transformation needed, but that only through consistent impartation of the word of God could trigger real change in them.
“Let us all bear in mind that these children would succeed us one day. That is why it is important for us to always have a succession plan so that when we are no more, our kids can take over and continue making impact,” he added.
