Atuahenekrom, Dec 31, GNA - Nana Professor Kwaku Atuahene-Gima, chief of Atuahenekrom near Atronie in the Sunyani Municipality, has called on the people in the area to strive for peace and unity to move the town forward.
Nana Atuahene-Gima made the call at a durbar to climax activities marking the maiden celebration of the three-day Nteteasu Festival of the chiefs and people of Atuahenekrom on Friday.
The Nteteasu Festival, he said, was instituted in memory of his late parents, Nana Kwadwo Atuahene, and Obaa-panin Yaa Adoma, through whose hard work and sacrifices the town was founded.
He urged his subjects to bury their differences and forge ahead in unity to help accelerate the development of Atuahenekrom.
Nana Atuahene-Gima, a distinguished Professor of Innovation, commended his sub-chiefs for their support and co-operation towards his developmental efforts, and warned against complacency.
Mr Anthony Adjei, Assemblyman-elect for Atronie, who deputised for Madam Justina Owusu Banahene, Sunyani Municipal Chief Executive, urged the people to support and encourage their chief and elders to live up to expectation.
Mr Alex Boampong, Chief Executive Officer of Alexiboam Company Limited, who chaired the function, commended Nana Atuahene-Gima for his efforts at bringing development to the town.
