Dreams FC coach Karim Zito has blasted Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak for kowtowing to the directive of the Sports Ministry to play the FA Cup final at 3pm instead of 5pm insisting the coaches are not thinking about their players.
To him, the climatic condition of an area plays a key role in the performance of players in a game and expected the coaches of both teams to be proactive in that regard.
Zito expected Frank Nuttal and Steve Polack to have called the attention of the FA Cup Committee to the harsh weather condition of Tamale which has been recording an average temperature of 40°C since last week.
He claims he would have boulycotted the game if he was the coach of any of the teams.
"I would have boycotted the game if I am the coach of either Kotoko or Hearts. The two coaches should have spoken on behalf of their players," Zito told Ghanasoccernet.com
He explained further how the climatic condition of a place can affect performance and results in a football game.
"The climatic condition of a place is one crucial factor in determining the performance of players. The average temperature here at this time is not football friendly and I expected the two coaches to have known better.
"The altitude is also a factor here. The air is very dry and the players will struggle on the field. The two teams should have insisted on the 5pm kickoff time when the heat would have waned by then," he added
The two teams have been forced to play at 3pm following a directive from the Sports Ministry citing safety precautions and the distance to be covered by fans as the key reasons.
Despite the FA Cup Committee discomfort regarding the MOYS directive but have kowtowed to it and will see the gane kicking off at 3pm.
