Asante Kotoko striker Abass Mohammed will be out of action for up to eight months after a knee ligament injury.
According to reports, he suffered the serious tackle at the training ground on Monday.
He had to carried off the training field with the help of the Kotoko medical team.
Early tests revealed Mohammed damaged the ligaments in his knee and that will require surgery.
He is scheduled to go under the knife in Ghana (Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital) or in South Africa.
