Genk defender Joseph Aidoo admits he erred after a defensive howler accounted for his side's 2-1 home defeat to Cercle Brugge in the Belgian top-flight over the weekend.
The Ghanaian directed the ball into his own net in a dramatic fashion as the visitors picked maximum points at the Luminus Arena.
This is the second time the African has scored an own goal for Genk and admits he made a mistake.
"It was just brutal bad luck", the Ghanaian said. "I wanted to kick the ball away, but just then I slipped away.
"A fraction of a second later I saw the ball in our goal. Everything was against us today, that is football.
" This defeat is hard, but I do not feel that the group is going to panic now. On Thursday we will have the chance to put this right."
Genk will take on Malmo FF in their Europa League match on Thursday.
