Spanish giants Barcelona must fork out €2million to sign Ghana midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng on loan for the rest of the season, Ghanasoccernet.com can confirm.
Agents close to the deal have told Ghana's leading football news outfit that as talks between the his Italian club Sassuolo and Barcelona are in advance stages.
The former Tottenham and Portsmouth forward is a surprise signing for the La Liga giants, but his arrival would pave the way for Denis Suarez to join the Gunners.
The 31-year-old has caught the attention of Barcelona who were looking for an experienced player to add to their squad before sanctioning Suarez's switch to the Gunners
According to Sky, Boateng would set Barca back €2 million and they would be given first refusal on the 31-year-old when the transfer window opened in summer.
The Italian side have place a €8 million price tag on the midfielder, but Barca will asses their position at the end of the season.
Talks to bring the flamboyant star to the Nou Camp are in their advance stages, which could see the Ghana international join the La Liga table toppers next week.
Barcelona have been impressed with Boateng's performances in a false 9 role and feel they could benefit from his experience in their bid for silverware.
Boateng joined Sassuolo in the summer and despite an injury forcing him to sit out for several weeks, he has scored four goals in 13 Serie A fixtures.
Barca had previously been keeping an eye on the situation at Chelsea regarding Alvaro Morata, but they are crying out for someone with plenty of experience who will fight for a spot and force Luis Suarez to up his game.
The 31-year-old may may have spent the last few years out of the spotlight, with Sassuolo and Las Palmas, but he has plenty of experience playing in top-flight across Europe.
