Nations FC will aim to bounce back from recent struggles when they host Asante Kotoko in a regional showdown at the Dr Kwame Kyei Sports Complex in Abrankese on Saturday.
The hosts suffered a 2-1 defeat to Medeama SC last weekend, their second loss of the campaign, leaving them with just four points from four matches (W1, D1, L2). Since making their top-flight debut in 2023, Nations have rarely started this slowly, sitting in the bottom half of the table with three goals scored and four conceded.
Head coach Kassim Mingle Ocansey has watched his side lose six of their last eight matches in all competitions (W1, D1), but Nations’ home form remains a bright spot. They have lost only once in their last eight home league fixtures (W6, D1) and are unbeaten in their last two home meetings with Kotoko (W1, D1). Their defensive record in this fixture, three clean sheets in the last four league encounters, will give them added belief.
Kotoko arrive in high spirits following a 1-0 win over Bibiani GoldStars in an outstanding game on Wednesday, which extended their unbeaten league run (W2, D1) and lifted them to fourth.
"You’ve seen a different Kotoko today with a different attitude," coach Abdul Karim Zito said after the game. "We are going to fight in the away games and get points to replace the two we lost here."
Kotoko’s improved away form, three straight wins in all competitions, suggests they are ready to test Nations FC’s home resilience in Abrankese.
