Black Stars coach Otto Addo says Tuesday’s 1-0 defeat to South Korea showed clear progress from last week’s 2-0 loss to Japan, noting that his players pressed with greater intensity and purpose throughout the friendly in Seoul.
He maintained that the stronger collective effort reflected their growing understanding of his tactical demands.
Addo highlighted the improvement in Ghana’s off-ball work, stressing that the side applied pressure more consistently and disrupted several South Korean build-up phases.
“We did better and put a lot of pressing into the game and better pressing, but surely, especially the first goal, killed a little bit our pressing and also our good game in the second half,” he said.
South Korea increased their rhythm after the interval and made their dominance count. Lee Tae-Seok met a well-placed cross from Lee Kang-In in the 63rd minute, directing a precise header beyond the goalkeeper Asare.
Ghana’s challenge deepened when the hosts won a penalty, but Benjamin Asare kept out Hwang Hee-Chan’s attempt to keep the contest tight.
The Black Stars later had goals from Kwabena Adu and Jonas Adjei Adjetey disallowed for offside as they pushed for an equaliser.
