Ghanaian forward Douglas Owusu continued his impressive form in the Serbian Superliga after scoring his fifth goal of the season to help Radnik Surdulica secure a crucial 2-0 away victory over TSC Backa Topola on Sunday afternoon.
Radnik, who have been battling for consistency this term, produced one of their most disciplined performances of the campaign despite being reduced to ten men late in the first half.
Serbian attacker Djordje Jovanovic opened the scoring for the visitors after 24 minutes, finishing off a well-crafted move initiated by midfielder Haris Hajdarevic, whose incisive pass split open the TSC defence.
The game’s decisive moment came in the 61st minute when Owusu, full of confidence and ambition, picked the ball from midfield and embarked on a brilliant solo run.
The 19-year-old displayed exceptional pace and control, gliding past markers before slotting home a composed finish to double Radnik’s lead.
His effort not only sealed all three points but highlighted his growing influence in the Serbian top flight this season.
Radnik had to cope with the dismissal of Nigerian forward Stephen Chinedu just before halftime, but their resilience and tactical discipline ensured TSC were kept at bay throughout the second period.
Owusu’s strike takes his tally to five goals in 17 league appearances, underlining his steady development and importance to Radnik’s survival push.
