Former Ghana international Kevin-Prince Boateng has opened up about his path to Christianity, crediting his wife, Marsi, with helping him take the first steps toward faith.
Speaking about the experience on the Unscripted podcast, Boateng revealed that his wife encouraged him to attend church but insisted they enter separately, making it clear that the decision had to come from him personally.
"My wife went by herself because she said, 'We can’t go in together, we’re not a couple,'" Boateng recalled. "So I was standing in front of the church, looking at these people with Bibles going inside. I was like, 'What am I doing here, man?'"
He explained that the intention behind his wife’s decision was to allow him to seek Christ for his own reasons, not to please her. That moment led to what he described as a powerful spiritual encounter.
'She did it on purpose because she wanted me to go in there for Christ, not for her. I felt something inside my body that was just impossible to explain. Then I had an encounter. You have to leave your pride."
Boateng, who retired from professional football in 2023, has been more open in recent years about his personal growth and life after football, including his commitment to his Christian faith.
