Mohammed Kudus says England defender Djed Spence has already fired the first shot ahead of Ghana’s high-profile World Cup meeting with the Three Lions.
Kudus revealed that the exchange happened during a light-hearted conversation in the Tottenham dressing room, adding competitive spice to a fixture already generating interest worldwide.
Ghana will play England in their second Group L match on 23 June in Boston, a game expected to draw huge attention given the talent on both sides. Kudus says Spence did not hesitate to issue a friendly challenge.
“Djed Spence told me in the locker room he will pocket me when Ghana play England at the World Cup. Time will tell,” he told TNT Sports.
The Black Stars will begin their tournament against Panama on 17 June in Toronto before turning their focus to England.
Their final group match against Croatia comes on 27 June in Philadelphia, rounding off what many have described as a demanding schedule.
Kudus, however, appeared relaxed about the task ahead, smiling as he recounted Spence’s comment.
