The Football 4 Girls programme has continued its nationwide impact with a successful rollout in the Tumu-Sissala East Municipality, engaging more than 400 girls from various basic schools in the region.
The initiative forms part of a broader effort to strengthen grassroots development and expand opportunities for young girls within Ghana’s football ecosystem.
Led by the GFA Technical Directorate in collaboration with the Ghana Education Service (GES), the project aims to increase access to structured football activities, spark interest in the sport and nurture emerging talent at an early age.
The activation event brought together key stakeholders, including the Municipal GES Director Charles Lewil and his team, Upper West RFA Division Two League Board Chairman Mr Asamoah, the Municipal Physical Education and Sports Coordinator, head teachers, teachers and media representatives.
Organisers outlined the core objectives of Football 4 Girls: identifying promising talent, boosting confidence and encouraging girls to pursue football freely and without social limitations. Participants engaged in physical drills and interactive sessions tailored to broaden their knowledge and enhance their enthusiasm for the game.
The girls were also introduced to strategic pillars from the GFA Women’s Football Strategy, designed to empower them with a clear pathway for growth and inspire ambition within the sport.
This collaboration between the GFA and GES reinforces their shared commitment to advancing girls’ and women’s football across the municipality, while contributing to the long-term vision of building a stronger and more inclusive football culture nationwide.
