The newly reconstituted Division One League Super Cup Committee has held its first meeting as preparations intensify for the 2026 edition of the annual pre-season competition.
The session, held on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at the GFA Boardroom, marked the committee’s first engagement since the appointment of Rabeh El-Eter as chairman.
His leadership ushers in a renewed commitment to enhancing the structure, organisation and overall appeal of the Super Cup, which serves as a key preparatory platform for elite Division One League clubs each year.
Committee members Mohammed Alhassan, Samuel Arbuah, and Abdul Rahman Yakubu joined the chairman for the maiden deliberations. Representatives from the Competitions and Communications Departments, Maxwell Casar Kemeh and Abdul Kadir Tophic, were also present to provide technical and administrative support.
A major focus of the meeting was the selection of a venue for the 2026 tournament. Several hosting options across the country are under consideration, with emphasis on infrastructure capable of accommodating teams, supporters and broadcast operations. A final decision will follow further consultations with key stakeholders.
The committee also discussed possible tournament dates, noting that the Super Cup will serve as an important curtain-raiser to the 2026/27 Division One League season. The aim is to identify a scheduling window that fits the domestic football calendar while allowing adequate preparation time for participating clubs.
Sponsorship was another priority on the agenda. Members underscored the need to secure strong corporate partnerships to strengthen the competition’s profile and ensure financial stability. Engagements with potential sponsors are set to begin in the coming weeks as the committee works toward attracting brands committed to supporting Ghana’s second-tier football ecosystem.
