Hearts of Oak will seek to arrest their worrying decline in form when they host Nations FC at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium on Saturday.
The Phobians are enduring a difficult spell. A 2-0 defeat to Karela United at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium last weekend extended their winless run to four matches, consisting of two draws and two defeats. This slide has seen them drop to seventh place with 21 points from 13 matches.
Despite recent setbacks, Hearts of Oak remain the league’s strongest defensive side, having conceded only six goals. Their home form, however, continues to undermine their progress. They are ranked the second-weakest home team, with two wins, three draws and one defeat at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium.
They have scored four goals and conceded three in their six home fixtures. Mas-Ud Didi Dramani and his squad will look to correct those struggles and revive their momentum.
Nations FC arrive in the capital placed 11th with 16 points, buoyed by a 2-1 victory over Heart of Lions last weekend in Abrankese. Their campaign has produced mixed results, four wins, four draws and five defeats, with 12 goals scored and 13 conceded.
Their away form remains a major challenge. Frimpong Manso’s team are the second-weakest side on the road and one of nine yet to secure an away win this season. They have taken one draw and suffered five defeats in six away matches, scoring only twice and conceding eight. They will attempt to overturn that record on Saturday, though both form and history point to a demanding test.
Since 2023, the two teams have met twice in Accra in league competition, with each side winning once. The balance in their recent meetings sets up another competitive encounter as both clubs seek vital points.
