The head coach of Morocco, Walid Regragui, has opened up about his team’s approach for their opening match at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Morocco will face Comoros on Sunday, December 21, in their first Group A encounter, to kick off this year’s edition of the continental spectacle.
Speaking in his pre-match interview, Walid Regragui said his Morocco side will play with confidence and humility in the opening fixture, adding that the ambition is to win AFCON 2025.
“We have been working for two years. It will be a big day, at home. Our objective has always been to win the AFCON and to give everything. Our supporters are with us.
“We will have to manage emotions and play with confidence and humility,” Walif Regragui said as quoted by CAFOnline.
Morocco, the host nation of AFCON 2025, heads into the tournament as strong favourites alongside defending champions Ivory Coast, record champions Egypt, Nigeria, and Senegal.
Sunday’s opening encounter between Morocco and Comoros is scheduled kick off at 8 pm at the Complexe Moulay Abdellah.
