Black Stars captain Jordan Ayew has issued a powerful rallying cry to the nation, urging Ghanaians to âstart dreaming’ of a historic run at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Speaking during a joint interview with Asempa FM, the Leicester City forward emphasized that while the team has the talent to succeed, a collective belief is essential for their journey in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
"We should start dreaming and go as far as we can," Ayew stated. "Winning is important, but we also need a bit of luck".
Ayew’s optimism is backed by a historic individual performance during the qualifiers. The 34-year-old emerged as a global standout, recording 14 goal contributionsâseven goals and seven assistsâacross the qualifying campaign.
This output placed him among the world's most productive players, matching or surpassing the contribution tallies of elite forwards like Lionel Messi and Erling Haaland during their respective qualifying windows.
Under the leadership of head coach Otto Addo, Ghana secured their fifth World Cup appearance by topping Group I with 25 points.
Ayew, who is set to become the oldest player to represent Ghana at a World Cup, believes the current squad's unity is their greatest strength.
