Ghanaian midfielder Leonard Owusu has rejoined Norwegian side Fredrikstad FK on loan for the 2026 season after the club reached an agreement with Serbian giants FK Partizan, the club announced today.
Owusu spent the 2025 campaign on loan at the Norwegian club and impressed with his performances, prompting Fredrikstad to make strong efforts to retain his services for another year.
The midfielder featured prominently last season, making 35 official appearances and scoring twice.
Among his notable contributions were a crucial equaliser against HamKam and a goal in the victory away to Sarpsborg 08.
After returning to Partizan at the end of the season, negotiations were required to secure another temporary move because the Ghanaian still had a year left on his contract in Serbia.
With the new Norwegian season fast approaching, all parties eventually reached an agreement that will see Owusu spend the 2026 campaign back at Fredrikstad.
“It feels amazing to be here. Leo is back, I’m home,” Owusu said after completing the deal.
“It feels so right to be here. Ever since I arrived, I have been treated well and respected by everyone in this city even though I was only on loan. Fredrikstad and I have unfinished business. I think we will achieve a lot this year.”
Fredrikstad sporting director Anders Jensen expressed delight at the successful negotiations, highlighting the strong relationship between the player and the club.
“That FFK loves Leo, and that Leo loves FFK is a well-known fact, so we are happy to make this happen,” Jensen said.
“The signing shows that we are ahead of the curve, and we can stand strong and prepared in the transfer window. We are further strengthening an already exciting squad with a quality player.”
Owusu’s return is expected to bolster Fredrikstad’s midfield as the club looks to build on last season’s performances in Norwegian football.
