Interim Leicester City manager Gary Rowett has praised the collective effort that led to Abdul Fatawu Issahaku's stunning goal in the Foxes' 2-0 victory over Bristol Cityâhis first win since taking charge.
Issahaku found the net with a right-footed volley to seal the result, ending Leicester's extended winless run and handing Rowett his first clean sheet as interim boss.
Speaking after the match, Rowett highlighted the quality of the build-up play rather than just the finish itself.
"I think we made like similar 18 passes in the buildup. Abdul ends up with a volley with his right foot. It's a thunderbolt," Rowett told Leicester City media.
"Getting in the right position on the back post, but it's good play first; it's nice composed play."
The goal moves Issahaku closer to recording double figures in both goals and assists this season. The Ghana winger now has nine goals and seven assists in 36 appearances across all competitions.
For Rowett, the victory provided a much-needed boost as Leicester look to build momentum under his leadership. The teamwork displayed in the build-up to Issahaku's goal offered exactly the kind of template he wants to see more of.
