Union Berlin defender Derrick Kohn has sent a defiant message to his Bundesliga counterparts ahead of Ghana’s high-profile international friendly against Germany on March 30.
Speaking on Sporty FM, the 27-year-old left-back declared that professional friendships will be set aside when the Black Stars face the four-time world champions in Stuttgart.
Kohn noted that his weekly experience playing against elite German internationals provides him with a unique tactical perspective.
However, he emphasized that personal ties will not influence his performance on the pitch.
“I know a lot of players from the Germany national team because I play every week against them. But on the field, we’re not friends. We want to beat them,” Köhn stated.
The fixture serves as a critical litmus test for head coach Otto Addo’s side as they finalize preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Ghana is preparing for a challenging tournament group featuring England, Panama, and Croatia.
